Vacations are Treasured

Whenever we have an opportunity to explore a new city we try to visit a few buildings and research and stay in places that we can learn from. It’s a process to test drive design to see what works and see and experience spaces and enjoy the design work of others. Keith and I love to travel. We make special stops and plan routes to hit the high points like our road trip to see the Newport Jazz festival. We stopped and stayed in Hudson,NY to see where the Manhattan urban elite shop. Then we went to tour Philip Johnson’s Glass House in New Canaan, Connecticut which is a fabulous site. Off the beaten track but well worth visiting.

Our next stop was Yale University in New Haven, CT to see the architecture on campus which is like the who’s who of architects. You will see Louis I. Kahn’s Art Gallery. Arch Daily has a great blog on the building. Eero Saarinen, Philip Johnson, Cesar Pelli and Frank Gehry buildings to see all in one location. Yale has a beautiful campus.

When I came across this site it intrigued me and made me want to go to Britain just to stay in these fabulous places. Check it out.
